What
is a domain_name? |
| |
|
| |
A domain name is the essence of your company's online
identity. It is the address your customers use to find information
about your products and services on the web. Domain_names allow Internet
users to type in a name, such as yourdomain.com, to identify a numeric
Internet Protocol (IP) address such as 207.15.12.173. The purpose
of domain names is to allow users connected to the Internet the ability
to find web sites without having to memorize the long, numerical (IP)
addresses that actually locate the computers or servers on the Internet. |

Why are your
fees so low? |
| |
|
| |
HostingCampus.com is one of the fastest growing domain_name_registration
services. Our customers are doubling and tripling each month. We are
witnessing a tremendous growth in our domain_registrations and domain_transfers.
Many of our customers register multiple domain names in all extensions
(.com, .net .org) to protect their identity. This higher than usual
multiple registration is due to our low prices. We believe that the
domain registration should be affordable and no one should charge
the exorbitant charges levied by the major companies. As we grow our
base grows and our revenue will grow to maintain our low prices hopefully
for years to come. Spread the word about us. Our goal is to maintain
our low cost, affordable domain name registration prices with no hidden
fees. |

What does
it mean to "Register" a domain_name? |
| |
|
| |
There is a central registry of all domain_names on the
Internet. For your domain_name to become a part of the registry, your
domain name needs to be added to that registry. "Registering" a domain_name
means you are associated with that domain_name for the period of the
registration. Only ICANN-approved Registrars have access to the database. |

Who should
register a domain_name? |
| |
|
| |
Anyone thinking about establishing a presence on the
Internet should register a domain_name. You don't have to utilize
it right away, but you can reserve it for your future use. Domains
are being registered at the rate of more than 300,000 per month- they
go quickly! |
| |
|
| |
|
| |
How long does
the registration process take? |
| |
|
| |
The application process should only take
a few minutes to complete. All registrations take place in real time-
once your application has been processed and approved, your name is
registered. |

|
| |
Is it possible
for someone to register my domain name after I have registered it? |
| |
|
| |
The availability of .com, .net and .org domain_names
is verified through a central registry system. This system prevents
a domain_name that is successfully registered from being registered
by another person or entity. The registration and processing system
updates the central registry in real time. |

I've got my
domain name, now what? |
| |
|
| |
There are many things you can do with your
new domain. Some people want to build a website for their corporate
or personal use. If that is the case, you must contact a web design/
h o s t i n g company. Once they have a website ready for you, we
can "point" your new domain to that website. Some want custom email,
(you@your-new-domain.com, for example). You can enable our email forwarding
feature to forward your mail to your primary email account auch as
johnsmith@aol.com. Some just want to resell their domain_name. In
that case, you may certainly sell your new domain to whomever you
like. Simply contact us to transfer the domain_name to your buyer. |

I own a
new domain, but when I type it into my browser, nothing comes up. |
| |
|
| |
Again, a domain_name is not a website, just a web address
for a website. If you want your new domain to be a web address for
a website for your corporate or personal use, you must contact a web
design/ h o s t i n g company. Once they have a website ready for
you, we can "point" your new domain to that website. If you already
have a website, and registered a new domain for it, be aware that
some h o s t i n g companies do not accept a domain pointing to their
host site (members.abigisp.com/your-abigisp-site~template1765, for
example) Also, it may take a few days for the routing to point to
your new host on an acceptable server. |
